Residency Program

Residency Program

The Acupuncture and Wellness Center runs a residency program.

The Resident Acupuncturist position is for a term of 2 – 3 years, and the following is a breakdown of what each year entails:

Your first year is devoted to building your confidence and skills with the acupuncture (Distal Needling, specifically), as well as beginning your pulse diagnosis training.

As a Resident, you will initially spend up to 3 months shadowing Bob during his acupuncture treatments, re-exams, herbal consultations, patient education and initial consultations. After that time, when Bob deems you ready, you may begin treating patients on your own. When you begin treating patients on your own, you can generally expect to treat between 25-40 patients per day.

Residency Program Overview:

During this first year, you will start learning about how to generate new patients by doing pulse diagnosis at large events in the area, sometimes reading the pulses of over 50 people in a day. You will also spend this year learning the correct way to handle new patients during their first initial visits to the clinic. You will also learn the basics of managing patient scheduling and other clinic operations.

Your second year is devoted to mastering the acupuncture, as well as fine-tuning your pulse diagnosis skills and beginning your herbal training. During this year, you will be spending much of your time treating patients, generating new patients, as well as learning marketing & public speaking.

Your third year is optional, and if you choose to stay for this year we will begin training you on how to educate & present plans to patients, as well as training you on clinic operations and business management.

Over the course of the 3 years, your training is geared to put you in a position to be able to take the business model of our clinic, combined with your medical skills, and give you the tools to duplicate this in your own market area. We believe that by sending you out to recreate our clinic model in another area, it allows us make this medicine available to many more people than we can treat in our vicinity.

This is a paid Residency, with a yearly salary beginning at $36,000.
