California (CA) Renewal Requirements
Continuing Education Provider Number: 1245
50 hours of continuing education units (CEUs) every 2 years are required to maintain an acupuncture license.
- At least 25 hours MUST be live, real time interaction (Live Webinars, Live Seminars).
- A maximum of 25 hours may be distance learning.
- A maximum of 5 hours can fall under Category 2, which is non-patient oriented courses such as business, practice management, and exercise (ex. Qi gong) courses.

Florida (FL) Renewal Requirements
Florida Board of Acupuncture Provider Number: 50-17572
30 Continuing Education Units (CEU) for renewal.
- General: 21 hours
- Laws & Rules: 2 hours
- Biomedical Science: 5 hours
- Medical Errors: 2 hours
- Human Trafficking: 1 hour *
Each licensee or certificate holder shall complete a board-approved, 1-hour continuing education course on human trafficking. The course may be included in the total general hours requirement and must be completed by January 1, 2021. Required in accordance with Section 456.0341, Florida Statutes.
* Note: The 1-hour requirement of Human Trafficking is included in the required general hours.
Completed Course Credits are reported to CE Broker at the end of each month. Please be sure to fill in your name and Florida acupuncture license number when prompted.

Illinois (IL) Renewal Requirements
Illinois Continuing Education Provider License Number: 225.000028 30 Continuing Education Units (CEU) required by June 30 of odd numbered years for renewal. NCCAOM Provider Number: 171320
60 PDA points (or CEU credits) are required in a 4-year NCCAOM recertification cycle.
Mandatory recertification requirements:
- Minimum of 22 PDA point/hours in Core Competency subject areas: AOM-AC (Acupuncture), AOM-CH (Chinese Herbology), AOM-OM (Oriental Medicine).
- 2 PDA point/hours in Safety (SA)
- 2 PDA points/hours in Ethics (ET)
- 4 PDA points/hours for CPR certificate: 1 certificate is accepted per recertification cycle.
Note: Most boards accept NCCAOM approved courses for license renewal. Please check with your board if you are uncertain what the requirements are.

Acupuncture Continuing Education Requirements by Board (International)
AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
Renewal Requirements:
20 CPD (Continuing Professional Development – also called CEUs – Continuing Education Units) hours are required for renewal. Four (4) of those hours must relate to professional issues.
Five (5) hours must be interactive CPD activities. Interactive means learning that involves a two-way flow of information and occurs with other practitioners, such as face-to-face or interactive online education.
The Board does not endorse/accredit CPD providers or activities but expects practitioners to select CPD activities that are consistent with the ethical and professional standards set out by the Board.

AFPA (Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association – Ireland)
Renewal Requirements
4 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points are required each year for renewal.
CPD points are calculated as follows:
- 1 day lecture on any acupuncture or TCM topic = 2 CPD points
- 1 day lecture on non-acupuncture or non-TCM topic = 1 CPD point
Practitioners are expected to use their own judgment regarding the quality of the lecture or workshop and select courses that are beneficial to their practice.

NZASA (New Zealand Acupuncture Standards Authority)
Renewal Requirements

20 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points are required each year for renewal.
The NZASA requires CPDs in 3 categories:
- Category 1: Ethics (minimum of 2 CPDs)
- Category 2: Chinese Medicine (minimum of 12 CPDs)
- Category 3: Other Healthcare (courses unrelated to clinical matters)

Acupuncture NZ (Acupuncture New Zealand)
Acupuncture NZ (formerly NZRA) was established in 1977. It is a professional organization representing practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in New Zealand. Acupuncture NZ is a member of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) and the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS). Acupuncture NZ members are recognized ACC treatment providers.

BAcC (British Acupuncture Council)
A minimum of 30 hours of CPD activity per year is required for renewal.
Members are supposed to use their own judgement when choosing CPD classes, workshops or lectures. The aim of the CPD is to improve professional practice as defined in The Standards of Practice for Acupuncture (SPA). Members are supposed to complete an annual declaration of their CPD activity and reflect on the impact that engagement in CPD has made to their practice and the therapeutic relationship with their patients.
