Enlace a la traducción al español

  • The logic of the 3 stages won’t fail you!
  • Use the 3 stages to diagnose the pulse
    • You must always go through these 3 simple questions in order to determine what is happening with the pulse
    • Step 1: Is the pulse too high, too low, or in its home?
    • Step 2: What is the shape of the pulse?
    • Step 3: What is the strength of the pulse?
  • Example
    • Step 1: Is the pulse too high or too low?
      • Pulse is too high,
        • You can rule out blood stasis or dampness. So what else could it be?
          • Blood Deficiency
          • Yin Deficiency
          • Heat condition
    • Step 2: What is the shape of the pulse?
      • Pulse shape is Convex
        • This must be a heat condition
    • Step 3
      • What is the strength of the pulse?
        • Strong
          • Excess heat in the organ
    • Follow the 3 stages to make the right diagnosis every time!

The Office: Arteriosclerosis vs. Atherosclerosis

Enlace a la traducción al español

  • What is the difference between Arteriolosclerosis and Atherosclerosis?
  • Arteriolosclerosis
    • Outer Vessel wall becomes stiff and hard from calcification.
    • This prevents the vessel from expanding when blood goes through leading to increased blood pressure.
    • Pulse will feel hard, stiff and inflexible.
  • Atherosclerosis
    • Outer vessel wall is healthy; however, the inner vessel wall becomes red and inflamed.
    • The body attempts to repair the damage, by creating a protective layer of new cells over the inflamed tissue. However, this will narrow the inside diameter of the vessel.
    • This will also lead to high blood pressure over time.
    • Pulse will feel spongy
  • Herbal formulas
    • For Arteriolosclerosis use herbs that soften the vessel wall & blood movers.
      • Hai Zao 20
      • Kun Bu 20
      • Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang 60
    • For Atherosclerosis use herbs that shrink the inner vessel wall and blood movers.
      • Xue Fu Zhu Tang 40
      • Zhen Ren Huo Ming yin 50
      • Da Ding Huang 10

    • Key takeaways:
      • You must treat the liver to deal with other problems!
        • A pathological liver state will ruin/impede treating other problems.
        • Patients cannot be happy with a pathological liver
    • Sell treatment plans
      • Patients commit more psychologically to treatment. Won’t bail as quickly if you make lots of mistakes in the beginning (like we did).
    • Think clearly and carefully, try not to make mistakes. But catch them and shift focus when you do!
