2016 Update on the DPM (Doane’s Patient Management) System

  • The issue is that you have to give a vision to a vision to the patient, how to live longer and healthier and with more vitality. People want to hear that message!
  • Report or findings and offering a pre-paid plan solves this issue.
  • We used to do a Day 0 (free) and schedule 4 visits (with discounts) and only acupuncture, no herbs during those 4 visits.
  • If patients commit to plan, 70% of herbal complaints are gone (bad taste, side-effects etc.) and it solves a lot of the money issue (money talk is draining for the practitioner), because you only have to “wrestle” with the patients once in a few months.
  • Old system:
  • Day 0: Take their pulse. Tell them what’s wrong from a CM diagnosis. Talk about main complaint(s). Make them schedule 4 discounted visits.
  • Day 1: Medical intake.
  • Day 2: Acupuncture Tx.
  • Day 3: How did they respond to acupuncture? 2nd Acupuncture Tx. Go through all health problems, ask them which problems they want addressed. Lay out a treatment plan for them. Ask them to join and pre-pay the discounted plan.
  • Day 4: Acupuncture Tx. Ask them again, if they want to join the discounted plan, if not, have them be pay-as-they-go patient.
  • New system:
  • Day 0:
  • Highest level of enthusiasm – Why waste it? If patient is excited, present plan on Day 0 (50% patients join).
  • If not excited:
  • Do not present a plan.
  • Schedule 3 discounted (50% discount) visits:
  • Day 1:
  • Medical Intake
  • Acu Tx (make sure DNA takes pain away, if no pain then: breathing/digestive problem)
  • Present homework
  • Day 2 (usually next day):
  • Analyse homework and see which health complaints you can address and how long that would take (usually 80% better in 4-5 months)
  • Acu Tx
  • Make up and present discounted pre-payment plan
  • 3 options:
  • credit-card now- 20%;
  • over 6 months: original price with no interest, but no 20% discount;
  • 12months: original price +8% interest
  • Day 3:
  • Acu Tx
  • Ask them to join or not (81% patients in Doane clinic join pre-paid health plan)
  • Man up and copy others: Robert Doane and his team offer a complete medical system:
  • Acupuncture (DNA- Distal Needling Acupuncture)
  • Herbs (MPD based herbalism)
  • Pulse-diagnosis (MPD- Medical Pulse Diagnosis)
  • Deductive thinking (Formulation of Tx strategies)
  • DPM (Doane’s Patient Management System)

    Herbs and Notes:

MPD: Mitral Valve Prolapse Pulse Presentations

  • Jimmy Cheng approach:
  • Left cun: scattered – inefficient blood flow thru the heart (most likely also associated with a valve leakage)
  • John Shen approach:
  • Left cun a pulse pronounced palpable right on top of extensor pollicis brevis tendon (with index finger touching the scaphoid bone) – most likely a mitral valve prolapse
  • If left cun pulse is physiologic, but there is a mitral valve pulse (no heart pathology, nothing to treat)
