    The Office: MPD® – The Left Cun Update Part 1

  • Scattered = Blocked
  • Blockage Stages:
  • Stage 1: Single pulse on top of a dispersed pulse
  • Indication: Blocked and weak heart (usually with fluid retention)
  • Rx:
  • Sheng Mai San 30-40
  • Blood-Movers 60-70 (e.g.)
  • Dan Shen
  • Yan Hu Suo
  • Ji Xue Teng
  • Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang/ Stress 1
  • Mao Dong Qing
  • Gua Lou Xie Bai Ban Xia Tang
  • If they have hypertension:
  • Do not use the tonics (e.g. Sheng Mai San)
  • Instead use blood-movers that lower blood pressure:
  • Hu Zhang
  • Cha Chi Huang
  • Mu Dan Pi
  • Jiang Huang
  • Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang
  • Mao Dong Qing

  • Continuation:
  • I they have hypertension:
  • Additionally complain about tiredness:
  • Sheng Mai San or Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan 15
  • Stage 2 Blockage:
  • Blood stasis more pronounced than weakness (tiny pulse within jello)
  • Rx:
  • Tonic 15-20
  • Blood-movers 85-80
  • Stage 3 Blockage:
  • Old terminology: “Dead Fish”; one just feels jello or no pulse
  • Blood-movers 100
  • Attention – If the liver pulse is pathological additionally add:
  • Jia Wei Xiao Yao San or Long Dan Xie Gan Tang or Chai Hu Qing Gan Tang
  • In a stage 3 blockage the weakness is disguised in the scatters of the pulse
  • For easier palpation of the cun pulse: start at the styloid process and follow the pulse (medial branch)

  • Dx: Kidney pulse (left chi) agitated (too deep or too high)
  • Rx – general:
  • Ba Ji Tian 15
  • You Gui Wan 20
  • Huan Shao Dan 20
  • He Zi 15
  • Wu Bei Zi 15
  • Rou Cong Rong 15
  • Rx – left chi deep:
  • use Yang tonics (e.g. You Gui Wan, Rou Cong Rong)
  • Rx – left chi high:
  • add Yin tonics (e.g. replace You Gui Wan for Zuo Gui Wan)
  • He Zi and Wu Bei Zi: can be used for all skin conditions
